Off-grid boat power systems.

Marine off-grid electrical installations in Essex and Suffolk, designed around how you use your boat and how long you spend away from shore power.

Plan your off-grid installation

More freedom at anchor starts with a power plan

A useful off-grid system starts with your everyday needs: refrigeration, lighting, navigation equipment, charging devices and any appliances you want to run. We discuss your typical trips, time at anchor and existing equipment before recommending a combination of batteries, solar and charging.

Build a complete system or upgrade in stages

Solar charging

Available space, shading and panel mounting influence what can be achieved. We consider solar alongside battery storage and other charging sources.

Lithium battery upgrades

We assess the existing bank, charging equipment and expected loads before specifying a lithium upgrade, including Fogstar options where suitable.

Inverters and charging

Victron inverter/chargers, solar controllers and DC-DC charging can form part of a coordinated system. Equipment selection depends on the boat and intended loads.

Monitoring and electronics

Clear battery and charging information helps owners understand their power use. We can discuss GX monitoring and integration with compatible Raymarine Axiom equipment.

Working with the equipment already aboard

You may already have solar panels, a lithium battery or a Victron inverter. Tell us the models and what you want to improve. We review compatibility and discuss what can be retained, expanded or replaced as part of the proposed installation.

Essex and Suffolk installations

We cover boat owners across Essex and Suffolk, including the Ipswich, Levington, Woodbridge, Walton-on-the-Naze, Brightlingsea, Maldon and Burnham-on-Crouch areas. Access and any marina or boatyard arrangements are agreed for each job. Travel elsewhere in the UK can be discussed for suitable projects.

What to expect

Start with your vessel details, existing equipment and the services you need. We discuss the scope, access and proposed system before providing a quotation. Allow around two weeks of installation work for a full system; your quote will confirm the schedule, with booking lead time and equipment availability considered separately.

Common off-grid questions

Will solar cover all my power needs?

That depends on consumption, panel space, shading, weather and season. We consider expected use and other charging sources when planning the system, rather than promising unlimited power.

Can I upgrade without replacing everything?

Often an upgrade can be staged, but the existing equipment needs to be assessed first. Send model details and photographs so we can discuss a practical starting point.

Can you work on a boat on a mooring?

Tell us whether your boat is on a pontoon, swinging mooring or ashore. Safe access, equipment transport and the work required determine suitable arrangements.
